    The rompers and one-pieces are built for daytime. The Signature Playsuits sit between day and night, soft enough to nap in and presentable enough to leave the house in, which is why plenty of us just leave a baby in one for a whole lazy Friday. Footless and short-sleeve styles suit the warmer months, longer ones work better under air conditioning.

    Three or four in rotation is realistic, more if she is at nursery, because a one-piece is changed as a whole outfit rather than swapping a top. Layer a magnetic bodysuit underneath when the room is cold.

    What the names mean, because they are not obvious. A zip romper closes top to bottom in one pull, which is the fastest thing in the drawer at 3am. A bubble magnetic romper fastens with magnets and has the gathered leg. A playsuit is the roomier all-day one. Little Skipper rompers and All Aboard playsuits are the sailor styles. How many rompers does a baby need?

Three or four in rotation for most babies, more if yours is at nursery. A one-piece is changed as a complete outfit, so they cycle through the wash faster than separates.

Do rompers work for a crawling baby?

They are better than separates for it. Nothing rides up to the armpits, and there is no waistband to dig in when she is on her front.

What sizes do the baby rompers come in?

Fewer decisions, fewer things to lose

A one-piece removes two problems at once. There is nothing to coordinate, and there is no second garment to go missing at nursery.
