ATLAS & MAYA

What Touches Their Skin Matters

My first months as a new mom were a blur of cuddles, deep love and red patches. Atlas’ skin flared. Fabrics felt stiff, seams rubbed, tags itched. I wasn’t going to use steroid creams, so I tried everything to soothe him. Discovering bamboo lyocell was the turning point and the start of Atlas & Maya™. From that day, Skin-First became our rule. Every detail is considered: gentle finishes, smooth bound seams, soft zipper & chin guards, kind elastics, thoughtful stretch... because I made it for him. If it’s good for Atlas, it’s good for Atlas & Maya™.

What Sustainability Means To Us

My mother taught me to love the sea, and our life was always on the water. Today we know how much our choices matter. For me, sustainability isn’t a trend and it isn’t an extreme, it’s a compass.

We learn, choose better, and lower our impact without greenwashing: design for longevity, document our partners, lab-test our finished garments, right-size production, and stay transparent about the journey. It’s progress over perfection, guided by a selfish wish too: I want my kids to inherit the best world possible.

Use longer, buy less

A baby averages 200 pieces in year one. I did more than that with Atlas (part excitement, part postpartum comfort shopping) and many outfits were barely worn once or not at all.

Some were too big and by the time he grew, they were too small, some were impossible to dress him on, some lasted minutes. That waste didn’t feel right.

So we design pieces to be worn to the max: cute enough to love, comfortable enough to reach for daily, and engineered to span more milestones. Fewer size changes, less waste, better value, and more memories in the clothes you truly use.

Global by values

I’ve spent years inside manufacturing, from high-end eyewear to luxury leather goods, all across America, Italy, China and beyond. I’ve learned that quality and ethics aren’t tied to a postcode.

When choosing suppliers, we look for capability, care and compliance, not cost or geography. We keep footprints lower by sourcing regionally; fabric, trims and making in the same place. And I visit mills and workshops myself.

After more than 200 samples, we chose partners for craft, fair treatment and reliable operations. One of my favorites runs a free on-site nursery for seamstresses. That is our standard: values first, everywhere.

The promise we make to your family starts with ours.

We built this brand as parents, with real nights, real naps, and a real baby who needed gentler clothes. Thank you for trusting us.

FAQ

Are your products safe for baby skin?

Yes. Our fabrics and components are tested to OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 (Class I) where applicable, and finished items are lab-checked for pH, colorfastness and azo dyes. Designs use smooth seams, tag-free labels and nickel-free hardware.

What does “Skin-First” mean?

We start with the skin: materials, seams, trims and construction are chosen to feel gentle, reduce irritation, and stay comfy through changes and movement. It's our starting point for every garment.

Is Bamboo Lyocell good for sensitive or eczema-prone skin?

Yes, many parents find it gentler. Bamboo has a naturally smooth, near-round fiber cross-section and low surface friction, so it rubs less than twisty cotton staples. It also has high moisture-regain and efficient wicking, helping keep baby’s micro-climate drier and more stable, useful for heat and sweat-triggered irritation. We pair it with low-irritant dyes and test to OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 (Class I) to ensure it's safety. It’s not a medical treatment.

Are you an organic brand?

We’re a conscious brand, not necessarily an organic brand. We prioritize organic natural fibres such as GOTS-certified cotton and closed-loop cellulose in our Bamboo and TENCEL™.

“Organic” describes how crops like cotton are grown and processed; for regenerated fibres like lyocell, the right lens is closed-loop production, responsibly sourced pulp (FSC certified) and low-impact chemistry verified by OEKO-TEX® Class I tests.

We design for longevity and safe skin contact, and we are currently undergoing certification for MADE IN GREEN by OEKO-TEX®.

What certifications do you hold?

Across our supply chain: FSC® certified bamboo pulp (tier-0), Lenzing TENCEL™ Lyocell fibers, fabric mills certified to OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 (Class I) and GOTS, and dye/printing partners OEKO-TEX® certified with RSL and wastewater compliance.

Our cut-and-sew partners participate in Amfori BSCI and also hold OEKO-TEX®/GOTS certifications. On arrival to Dubai, we lab-test locally the finished items as we are currently in progress of MADE IN GREEN by OEKO-TEX® certification for Atlas & Maya™ and to achieve it, we’ve aligned end-to-end compliance to qualify.

Why do you use Spandex™ (elastane) and is it sustainable?

We blend up to 5% Spandex™ (elastane) in our fabrics for gentle stretch and recovery, so pieces fit better, move with your child, keep their shape, and get worn longer, under our Skin-First promise.

Because elastane is synthetic, we keep it minimal, we exclusively use Spandex™ high-quality yarns, and test to OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 (Class I). This low blend stays within organic/GOTS blend thresholds, and the extra longevity means fewer replacements and less waste.

Where are your products made?

With vetted partners in China and Pakistan, and Lenzing fibers from Austria. We prioritize regional sourcing (fabric, trims and making in the same country/region) to lower footprint and uphold our Code of Conduct, audits and fair-work expectations.

We’re not limited to our current suppliers, for each collection we source the best capability/compliance fit worldwide.

Our long-term goal is to manufacture in the UAE under internationally recognized certification standards.

Are your magnetic closures safe?

Yes. Our magnets are securely sewn in, and enclosed inside a protective plastic pocket between fabric layers.

Magnets are not toys. Please inspect the area regularly; in the event of any tear, rip, loose stitching, or exposure, discontinue use immediately.

How should I care for Bamboo Lyocell clothes?

Close zips and snaps, wash cold on gentle with mild detergent, avoid fabric softeners, and line dry. This protects fibres, keeps softness and extends garment life.

How do your sizes run?

Our patterns are engineered to fit longer. They run larger than traditional brands but not oversize. Use the size chart and percentiles on each product page; when between sizes, choose based on desired length/room and reach out to Mom if unsure.
